Peggy Louise Ryan

Peggy Louise Ryan was born October 6, 1943, in Blackwood to Charlie and Hazel Ryan. She was called home to be with our Lord on December 5th, 2021 at Norton Community Hospital. Peggy was such a selfless, loving and caring person who always had a way of brightening up anyone's day and never failed to put a smile on someone's face. She enjoyed cooking and loved to spend time with her children and her grandchildren. As long as we can all remember, Peggy worked super hard to make her family happy and always tried to lead by example. There never was a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman and we will all miss her every single day. The biggest comfort is knowing that she is at peace and she is finally with her grandson, Scott, who she loved more than words. We know they are rejoicing in Heaven together. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Hunnell. 4 sisters, Juanita Sargent, Mable Ladd "Tootsie", Joyce Mabe "Pnut" and Irene Maxwell "Honeybunny". 2 brothers, Robert Ryan "Brub" and Charles Ryan. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, two daughters,Rhonda Fields and Lora Meade (Aaron); Her son, Chris Ryan; 8 grandchildren, Patrick and Megan Hunnell (Britney Stephens), Ashton and Aydin Ryan, Randy Mullis, Jerryd, Dallas and Cage Meade; 5 great grandchildren, Graeson Hunnell, Austin, Katie, Sam and Emmy Mullis; 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Mullins (Richard), Lorene Gollaway (Howard); 2 brothers, Bill Ryan (Debbie), Jerry Ryan (Kathy); 2 special children that she always loved as her own, Nathan and Nicole Aguirre; special friend who was like a daughter to her, Carrie Lawson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends at the Roy A Green funeral home in Appalachia, VA, Friday, December 10, 2021, from 5-7 pm with services following in the funeral home chapel officiated by Pastor Jay Wells. Burial will be at 11 am Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 am and leave by 10:30 for the procession to the cemetery. The family requests that those in attendance wear a mask due to Covid God Bless
