Joyce Ann Galloway

Joyce Ann Galloway, of Dryden, VA died on August 31, 2026 in Indianapolis, IN, surrounded by family and friends who loved her very much. She was born on February 25, 1946 in Andover, VA where she was raised with 6 brothers and 1 sister. She continued to reside in VA for the remainder of her life. Living the last 44 years in Dryden, VA. Joyce had a very blessed life. She enjoyed playing softball, bowling, camping, and fishing with her children, grandchildren, and other family members. Joyce received one of her greatest blessings on January 23, 2025 when her great- granddaughter Hali Wilt gave birth to her great-great-grandson, Nash Buskirk. She was so proud of having 5 generations. Joyce was a Coal Miner for the Westmorland Coal Company from 1976 till 1982. When asked why she wanted to work in the mines she would say “I have 2 teenage daughters that need alot”. She was very proud to be the 1st Woman Coal Miner in Southwest Virginia. Joyce belonged to Deep Springs Baptist church in Dryden. She loved God and her church family. She had the sort of faith that was admired. She knew she was going home to be with the Lord and the loved ones that had gone before her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 yrs, Dewey (Fuzzy) Galloway; daughter, Kathy; great-grandson, Nathan; parents, George and Roxie Kirk; 6 brothers, Billy Joe, Herby, Eugene, Bobby, Tommy, and Larry Kirk; sister, Betty Sue Kirk. Joyce is survived by 2 daughters, Lisa Mills and Pamela Kuga; 2 sons, Eddie Galloway (Angie) and Jeff Galloway; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild whom she loved very much; as well as many nieces, nephews; several special nieces, Tammy, Tina, and Meshell. Joyce also had 3 Individuals that had become very special to her after moving to Indianapolis with her daughter, Pamela. They were a part of her day to day life there. Clyde Boggs II and Samuel Jackson. Jr. were like sons to her, and Amy Farley was like a daughter, who became a friend and caretaker. Joyce loved spending time with each and every person she knew. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. The Galloway family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Roy A. Green Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Phillips officiating. Procession will follow to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for the committal.
