Sherry Ruth Horton Needham Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Appalachia, Virginia SHERRY RUTH HORTON NEEDHAM, born April 25, 1960, entered into eternal sleep on August 12, 2019 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Sherry graduated from Appalachia High School in 1980. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Appalachia. She lived most of her life in Appalachia. Sherry is preceded in death by her father, Charles Horton; great grandparents, Conley and Leafie Hensley; grandparents, Hoyt and Virginia Horton; grandmother, Betty Ruth Ward; and brother-in-law, Keith Perry. Sherry loved life and was the first to pray for anyone in need. She had an unselfish love which was her gift from God. She is survived by her husband, Barry Needham; mother, Barbara Horton; three sisters, Pam Horton Collins (Bobby), Sabra Horton Meade (Scott) of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and Penny Perry, Gray Tennessee; one brother, Chuck Horton, Big Stone Gap Virginia. She is also survived by special niece, Brandy Buckles and special nephew, Brian Collins who she always said was the kids she could never have. Other loving nieces and nephews that Sherry adored are Carlie and Seth Meade, Travis Atkins, Keisha Perry Bentley, and great niece and nephew, Josie and Brody. Special uncles that were like brothers to her, Marty Phillips and Ricky (Felisha) Ward. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm Thursday, August 15, at the Apostolic Church, Appalachia with Rev. Johnny Flanary officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm before services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am Friday at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The procession to the cemetery will depart the church at 10:30 am. The family would like to say “thank you” to the Mountain View Medical Center fourth floor staff for all their kindness and care during Sherry’s time there. You all were her second family.
