Coeburn, VA – Russell “Bucky” Leon Schenk, 80, departed this life on Sunday, (March 25, 2018). He was born April 25, 1937 as one of 13 children to Walter and Gladys Schenk who have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by eight siblings: Emile Arnold, Rosanell, Lillian, Helen, Eugene, Mildred, Carl Allen, and Ronnie. He is survived by four siblings: Charles Schenk, Robert Schenk, Thomas Schenk, and Mary Hoffman. He leaves a loving family behind including the mother of his children Rosemary Schenck and his eleven children: James and Sara Schenck, Jerry Schenck, Jeffery and Jennifer Schenck, Russell and Christina Schenck, Rosemary and Brian Armstrong, Rebekah and Jake Rosso, Annette and Wayne Mowery, Walter and Shannon Schenck, Emil and Christy Schenck, Jack and Lisa Schenck, and Sarah Schenck. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Receiving of family and friends will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday (March 29, 2018) at First Apostolic Church, 403 Callahan Ave in Appalachia. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Emil Schenck and Pastor Johnny Flanary officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will meet at the church by 10:15 a.m. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
