Shirley Ann Moore

Revelation 21:4 KJV “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Shirley Ann Moore, 86, Roda, (Appalachia) Virginia, went home to be with the Lord January 11th, 2024, after a brief illness at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport TN. Shirley was born in Appalachia to the late George and Sara Ellen Hartford. She was a lifelong resident, living in the holler of Roda most of her adult life. Shirley was a homemaker, loving Wife and Mother, Grandmaw, Mamaw, Nannie and Aunt. Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband Benjamin “Gene” Moore, parents George and Sara Ellen Hartford. Sisters Betty Garrett and Mary Alice Berry. Brothers George Hartford, Harold Hartford, TJ Hartford, Bill Hartford, and Arvil Hartford. Stepson Benny Moore. Shirley is survived by her children Charles “Johnny” (Debbie) Fugate of Roda, VA, Susie (Bobby Sr.) Coomer of Big Stone Gap, VA, Mike (Laura) Moore of Tacoma, WA.; stepchildren Watonna (John L) Coomer of Big Stone Gap, VA, Becky (Doddie) Daniels of Kingsport, TN, Lora Barker of Pennington Gap, VA, and Cecial Moore, Kansas City, KS.; grandchildren Johnny Lee Fugate, Patrick Fugate, Michael Fugate, Truman “JR” Rollins, Karen Hamilton, and Bobby Gene Coomer Jr.; great grandchildren Dakota Hamilton and girlfriend Julia, Nic Fugate, Joey Fugate, Henry Fugate, Thomas Rollins, Alexis Rollins, and Mckenze Rollins; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends; special neighbors who were as close as the family Delbert and Dorthy Galloway. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Thursday Jan 18th, 2024, at Roy A. Green Funeral home in Appalachia, VA. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Tony Nunley and Rev. Jimmy Mitchell. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Graveside services will be1 pm Friday Jan 19th, 2024, at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
